A welterweight clash between two undefeated British prospects is set to take place next month when Bellator returns to Milan. England’s Justin Burlinson is scheduled to face Wales’ Bobby Pallett on Thursday, October 1 multiple sources confirmed to Euro MMA Hub.
The news of this fight confirms a third Italian event for Bellator in the space of a week. Last week, BJPenn.com reported that Carlos Pedersoli Jr. and Grachik Bozinyan are set to throw down on September 24th in Milan, and Sherdog.com reported on Monday that a strawweight fight between Chiara Penco and Aleksandra Toncheva is slated to go down just two days later on September 26.
When the first Milan card takes place, it will be over 7 months since Bellator last put a European show on. Irish star Leah McCourt defeated Judith Ruis in a women’s featherweight main event at Bellator 240 in Dublin back in February. There was a subsequent European show scheduled for London in May, but the COVID-19 pandemic put a halt to those plans.
Burlinson (5-0) was scheduled to compete on the Probellum 2 card that was due to take place this Saturday, September 5 but news broke on Tuesday that the UK-based event has been cancelled. The Sunderland fighter previously fought out of The Dungeon, but he now trains alongside the likes of Cal Ellenor, Ryan Scope and Phil De Fries at TFT MMA, the gym he will represent for the first time in his career against Pallett. Burlinson went 17-1 as an amateur, and is currently riding a 20-fight win streak across the amateur and professional ranks. Since turning pro, he has amassed an unblemished 5-0 record with all finishes, his last 4 stoppages all coming in the first round.
Pallett (5-0) matches Burlinson with an undefeated record of his own. The Welsh native trains out of HAMMA Gym in St. Helens and has stopped his last 4 opponents. ‘The Body Snatcher’ most recently competed at Full Contact Contender 23, where he became the FCC welterweight champion with a third round TKO win over Ben Bennett in May 2019. Pallett is tapped to make his Bellator debut when he faces Burlinson next month.
More details surrounding the upcoming string of shows in Milan are expected to be revealed in the coming days.
