Two European middleweights have been matched for an early October UFC event.
Birmingham’s Tom Breese returns eight months after his previous assignment with an interesting middleweight meeting with Roman Kopylov on October 3, rumoured to be taking place on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi. The bout was made official by the UFC Europe Twitter account on Friday.
Breese (11-2) was finished within a round last time out against hot prospect, Brendan Allen, in just his second bout since moving up to 185lbs. He had a near two year layoff prior to that contest so his previous momentum has halted as of late. The 28-year-old last picked up a victory in May 2018 when he earned a performance of the night bonus with a first round TKO of Dan Kelly.
Kopylov’s (8-1) UFC debut didn’t quite go to plan last November against Karl Roberson, with the former Fight Nights Global middleweight champion suffering his first career loss. The 29-year-old has finished all but one of his professional wins via T/KO and has experience fighting into the championship rounds.
The UFC’s October 3 card is expected to be headlined by a women’s bantamweight contest between former champion, Holly Holm, and highly ranked contender, Irene Aldana.
