A women’s bantamweight bout has been added to the UFC’s October schedule.
Tracy Cortez and Sweden’s Bea Malecki are set to face each other on October 10 at an event that does not yet have a venue or location. The planned booking was first reported by MMA Junkie.
Malecki (4-0) made her UFC debut last June, when she submitted Duda Santana with a rear-naked choke in the second round. She then returned earlier this year with a unanimous decision win over Veronica Macedo. The Fortis MMA prospect was part of TUF 28, losing to Leah Letson in the opening round.
Cortez (7-1) came through Dana White’s Contender Series, winning a unanimous decision over Mariya Agapova last July. She followed that performance up with a win in her UFC debut against Vanessa Melo in November. The Phoenix born, 26-year-old has won seven fights on the bounce since losing her professional debut.
Although not officially confirmed, the UFC’s October 10 card is expected to be headlined by a meeting of top bantamweight contenders when Marlon Moraes takes on Cody Sandhagen.
