The UFC’s October 17 event has a new addition.
Renato Moicano and Magomed Mustafaev are set to clash in a lightweight contest, expected to take place on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi. Combate first reported the booking but it hasn’t been officially announced by the promotion yet.
Mustafaev (14-3) dropped a tight split decision to Brad Riddell last time out, taking his overall UFC resume to three wins and two losses. The Russian has fought as high as middleweight, but now seems settled at 155lbs with his last three wins coming via TKO since moving back down. Mustafaev has stopped all fourteen of his wins inside the first two rounds (ten TKO/KO’s and four submissions).
Moicano (14-3-1) made a successful move up to lightweight back in March, stopping Damir Hadzovic forty four seconds into the first round with a rear-naked choke. The Brazilian has only lost to the elite of the featherweight division, being stopped by Brian Ortega, Jose Aldo and ‘The Korean Zombie’ while holding impressive wins over the likes of Jeremy Stephens, Calvin Kattar and Cub Swanson.
Brian Ortega and ‘The Korean Zombie’ are scheduled to headline the UFC’s October 17 event in an important featherweight bout.
