Polish freakfighting legend, Popek Monster, is set to make his return to action at Fame MMA 7 on September 5. While the opponent was not revealed in the promotional trailer released two days ago, Polish tabloid “Super Express” has confirmed that Popek will face the debuting Damian Zduńczyk.
Zduńczyk (Pro Debut), better known as “Stifler”, came to fame by appearing in 10 seasons of “Warsaw Shore” – the Polish counterpart to “Jersey Shore” and it’s many spin-offs. “Stifler” was a particularly crass member of an already crass cast, ready to get naked at the slightest urge and never missing a chance to get absolutely hammered. This behaviour did serve to make him one of the most popular cast members of the show however.
Now, tapped by one of Fame MMA’s promoters Wojciech Gola – himself also a long-time cast member on “Warsaw Shore” – he will make his MMA debut. Zduńczyk joins the ever-growing group of “Warsaw Shore” and “Ex on the Beach” cast members that try their hand at MMA after Gola’s encouragement.
Popek (3-4) , real name Paweł Mikołajuw, is a new signing for Fame MMA. The erstwhile gangsta rapper turned pop rap star mixed his music career with MMA since 2008. His first run in the UK was curtailed when his loss to Sander Duyvis incited a riot in the stands.
He re-emerged first by releasing YouTube videos chronicling his scarification and eye tattoos in 2012. A year later, he released a hit comeback record “Monster” which was certified gold in Poland, Czechia and Slovakia and formed the “Gang Albanii” group, which released both diamond and platinum certified records. Working in studio with KSW’s music producer Matheo made for an easy connection with the promoters and he joined KSW in late 2016. After going 1-3 in the organisation, Popek announced his retirement in 2018.
The 41-year old decided to end his retirement in early 2020. Despite expressed interest by KSW promoters to have the rapper fight for them, he decided to join Fame MMA.
