An important lightweight contest has been added to Cage Warriors’ ‘Trilogy’ series.
Jack Grant looks to bounce back from disappointment in his last bout as he welcomes France’s Yassine Belhadj to the Cage Warriors arena. The bout is set to take place at Cage Warriors 115 on September 25 at the BEC Arena, Manchester, in the organisation’s second of three consecutive behind closed doors events. During Wednesday morning, the promotion confirmed the bout on social media.
Grant (15-5) came up short in his bid to become the promotion’s lightweight champion, suffering a stoppage loss to Jai Herbert at the ‘Night of Champions’ show in June 2019. The 28-year-old hasn’t competed in MMA since, so will be hoping there are no signs of ring rust next month. Overall, Grant has finished fourteen of his fifteen professional wins (seven TKO/KO’s and seven submissions) and is currently 3-1 in Cage Warriors competition.
Belhadj (6-2) made his professional debut in a losing effort against Craig McIntosh in Scotland around five years ago. He then won five fights in a row before suffering defeat again, this time at the hands of Fares Ziam in the main event of European Beatdown 5. In his last outing, ‘Crazy Legs’ rebounded with a first round submission victory of Garik Shahbabyan in May of last year. Belhadj was booked to compete against Martin Stapleton at Cage Warriors 112 but the bout fell off the card at the last minute.
Cage Warriors 115 is expected to feature a middleweight title fight as Nathias Frederick makes his first title defence against challenger, Jamie Richardson.
