Yana Kunitskaya’s August bantamweight bout has been rescheduled.
She is now set to face Ketlen Vieira on August 8 after the original booking was moved back a week for unknown reasons. MyMMANews were the first to report the news. The event has not yet been officially announced by the promotion, although it is likely to take place at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Kunitskaya (12-5 1NC) made her UFC debut by challenging Cris Cyborg for the featherweight title, and after a first round stoppage loss has since won two and lost one in the organisation. The former Invicta featherweight champion has finished eight of her 12 wins (7 TKO/KO’s and 1 submission) but is still searching for her first stoppage in the UFC, with both of her wins thus far coming by decision.
Vieira (10-1) saw her perfect ten-fight unbeaten run come to an end as Irene Aldana knocked her out in the first round of their fight last December. Prior to that, ‘Fenomeno’, had racked up four UFC wins and had broken into the women’s bantamweight rankings, with wins over former title challengers, Sara McMann and Cat Zingano.
The event is expected to be headlined by a heavyweight clash between knockout artist, Derrick Lewis, and submission specialist, Aleksei Oleinik, with former middleweight champion, Chris Weidman, also booked to face Omari Akhmedov in the co-main event.
