ARES FC are continuing to expand their roster and two European veterans are the latest additions.
The Vivendi-backed promotion announced the signings of UFC veteran, Mickael Lebout, and Bellator tournament winner, Karl Amoussou, on their Twitter page. It is not yet known who either will face in their debuts for the organisation or when they are scheduled to compete.
Lebout (19-10-2, 1NC) joins ARES FC after establishing himself as a veteran of the European scene by fighting for the likes of Cage Warriors, BAMMA and M-1 Global. He is most well-known for his three-fight UFC stint where he picked up a victory over Teemu Packalen. Most recently, the 32-year-old was unsuccessful in his attempt to capture the M-1 Global lightweight title when he lost to Roman Bogatov by TKO due to a shoulder injury last August.
Amoussou (24-9-2) has not set foot in the cage for two years so will be hoping to hit the ground running as soon as ARES FC resume their schedule. He rose to prominence during his three-year run with Bellator where he challenged Ben Askren for the welterweight belt. The former Cage Warriors champion has finished his opponent in 20 of his 24 professional victories including Hakon Foss and Matt Inman.
ARES FC staged their inaugural show in December before their plans for 2020 were scuppered by the COVID-19 outbreak. The company are aiming to develop MMA in France and Africa so the sport’s popularity can reach new heights in those territories.
Over the past few weeks, the Afro-European promotion have added former WBA middleweight boxing champion, Hassan N’Dam, to their ranks as well as UFC veterans, Danilo Belluardo and Eric Shelton.
